About The Sanctuary
At Sanctuary Play Therapy we believe that every child has a right to feel safe, loved and understood. We strive to provide an environment where children can begin to heal and process the emotional challenges they are experiencing through therapeutic play. We value the power of connectedness and relationship. A trained Play Therapist uses a specific set of skills which provides an environment of total acceptance, valuing the child as a unique individual. These conditions help build a therapeutic relationship with the child, supporting young children to express and explore their inner self. We value the therapeutic powers of play which support positive emotional development, healing, and builds resilience.
At Sanctuary Play Therapy we pride ourselves in using a highly evidenced based approach of child centred therapy, to help children explore their inner world and express themselves through play.
Our Play Therapy services take place in our Centre located in Wantirna.
We provide services to Plan Managed and Self- Managed participants as well as clients that are independent and booking privately.
“Enter into children’s play, and you will find the place where their minds, hearts, and souls meet.” — Virginia Axline.
Annamaria Bingham (Registered Play Therapist)
My interest in Play Therapy stems from 26 years of teaching in the Early Childhood field, working with and supporting children as they grow, mature and develop through the magic of a play-based learning curriculum. Children and families I have connected with are my biggest influence in becoming a Play Therapist. I am in awe of the importance of play as a learning tool and as a mechanism for growth and development.
